BRIEF: Late-night Taco Bell deliveries: Coming to a college near you?

May 27--College students may no longer have to leave their dorms to get their late-night Taco Bell fix.

Yum Brands Inc. Chief Executive Greg Creed said Wednesday that the company is looking into testing deliveries for its Irvine-based Taco Bell subsidiary, potentially to college campuses.

He said food delivery is a popular customer request, but if it were to happen, it wouldn't be lunch, and it wouldn't be every day -- only Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

"I think our ability to deliver Taco Bell would be a massive sales driver for the brand," he said during a discussion at the Bernstein Strategic Decisions Conference in New York City.

But XXL Grilled Stuft Burritos, Crunchwrap Supremes and Doritos Locos Tacos could be hard to deliver because of the hot and cold temperatures. What's easier is a bucket of chicken -- and it just so happens that Yum also owns chicken chain KFC.

"The great thing about KFC food is it is actually well-suited for delivery," Creed said. "It holds its temperature incredibly well."

The only Yum Brand that currently offers home deliveries is Pizza Hut.
