BRIEF: Two robbery suspects in custody after large manhunt in South L.A.

Nov. 15--Two men are in custody after a woman was robbed Friday night, setting off a large manhunt in a South Los Angeles neighborhood, police said.

The robbery occured at 9:30 p.m. in the area of 70th and Figueroa streets, and was observed by officers, who chased the suspects, according to LAPD Sgt. Rudy Alaniz. The first suspect was quickly caught. The second eluded capture until 11:45 p.m., when a K9 unit found him inside a home in the 400 block of West 67th Street.

Officials would not comment on reports that the victim was an undercover Los Angeles police officer and that one of the suspects took her gun from, her. The men, both in their 20s, were accused of stealing the woman's purse, Alaniz said.

The woman suffered bruises to her face and body, and was treated at the scene.
