BRIEF: Lakers' Nick Young still limited by sprained ankle

Jan. 30--Kobe Bryant's season-ending injury put the Lakers in a difficult position, but Nick Young had a plan.

"Just give me the ball and get out of the way," Young said.

That was on Monday, a day after Young sat for the entire second half in a game against the Houston Rockets. Since then, it has been Young who has gotten out the way. He sprained his ankle in Monday's practice and hasn't played since.

Young did some shooting in practice on Friday, but Coach Byron Scott said his status remains uncertain when the Lakers play the Knicks on Sunday.

"He was real light on it so I don't know if he can really run and cut and all that stuff," Scott said. "So again we'll just have to wait and see."

Wayne Ellington has assumed the bulk of Young's minutes in the two games since the injury. Ellington has averaged 25.5 points, three assists and four rebounds on a combined 21 of 29 shooting.
