BRIEF: Lakers' D'Angelo Russell selected to the NBA's all-rookie second team

May 19--D'Angelo Russell is a second-team NBA all-rookie selection, the league announced Thursday.

Russell averaged 13.2 points and 3.3 assists after being selected with the second overall pick by the Lakers last June.

Only one guard was on the first team, Phoenix's Devin Booker. He was joined by Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns, New York's Kristaps Porzingis, Philadelphia's Jahlil Okafor and Denver's Nikola Jokic.

The panel that voted on the players consisted of 13 sports writers and broadcasters.

Joining Russell on the second team were Denver's Emmanuel Mudiay, Miami's Justise Winslow, Indiana's Myles Turner and Sacramento's Willie Cauley-Stein.

Last week, Russell finished ninth in voting for rookie of the year, which was won by Towns.
