BRIEF: Lake County woman accused of making false police report

Aug. 26--A Lake County woman has been accused of filing a false police report, according to a statement from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Det. Christopher Covelli of the Lake County Sheriff's Office said Jessica C. Kramer, 20, of an unincorporated area near Lake Zurich, has been charged with one count of attempted disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

Authorities said Kramer contacted police around 3 a.m. Sunday and told Lake County sheriff's deputies that while she was out jogging at around 2:50 a.m., two men drove by her in a pickup truck.

According to the statement from the sheriff's department, Kramer said that one of the men came out of the truck, grabbed her, pulled her hair and hit her twice on the head.

The statement said that while investigating, authorities learned that Kramer had fabricated the story.

"Kramer admitted she lied to law enforcement about the attack for attention due to relationship problems with her boyfriend," the statement said.

Kramer declined to comment.

Authorities said Kramer turned herself in to police Tuesday morning.

Kramer is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Sept. 24 in a Waukegan courtroom, officials said.
