BRIEF: LACMA to screen '400 Blows,' other Francois Truffaut films

Feb. 28--After building a reputation as a maverick film critic, New Wave pioneer Francois Truffaut burst into the international scene with his first feature, 1959's "The 400 Blows," a hauntingly personal tale starring Jean-Pierre L页d as troubled adolescent Antoine Doinel. Over the next 20 years, Truffaut and L页d would make three additional movies and a short chronicling the life of the filmmaker's cinematic alter ego. Academy@LACMA's Tuesday afternoon screening series at the Bing Theater will feature all four Doinel films beginning Tuesday with "The 400 Blows." The 1968 comedy "Stolen Kisses" is on tap for March 10, with 1970's "Bed and Board" set for March 17. The program concludes March 24 with 1979's "Love on the Run."
