Jan. 28--Labriola Ristorante Cafe, the downtown Chicago arm of the popular Oak Brook bakery and restaurant, will open on Michigan Avenue Thursday.
Six years ago, I wrote about its pretzel-bunned Richie Burger (named after owner Rich Labriola) as one of my favorite burgers in town. I haven't had it recently, so I'll reserve judgment on how it held up. That said, the kitchen team is headed by John Caputo, who did great work when he was chef at Bin 36.
The 300-seat downtown restaurant (535 N. Michigan Ave., 773-955-3100) will have a similar Italian-focused menu as its suburban location, with sandwiches, Neapolitan pizzas, pastas and salads.
