BRIEF: L.A. County sheriff's deputy accidentally shoots himself while chasing two suspects

Feb. 10--A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy accidentally shot himself following a pursuit of two suspects in Wilmington, authorities said.

The deputy suffered leg injuries that are not considered life-threatening and is receiving medical treatment, said Deputy Ryan Rouzan, a department spokesman.

The shooting was unintentional and occurred at the end of the pursuit, he said.

Details about the vehicle pursuit were not immediately released, but KABC-TV reported that it began at 4 a.m. near Pacific Coast Highway and Alameda Street.

That's where the two suspects stopped the vehicle and ran away, the news station reported. The deputy ran after the suspects and accidentally shot himself.

One of the suspects was arrested, KABC-TV reported.
