BRIEF: L.A. County probation officer charged with insurance fraud

Jan. 21--A Los Angeles County probation officer has been arrested and charged with two counts of worker's compensation insurance fraud after allegedly altering medical documentation, authorities said Tuesday.

Raymond Milton, a sworn peace officer, is accused of altering medical documentation that resulted in a loss of $2,374.68 while he was claiming to be sick, according to the probation department.

He was taken into custody Jan. 17. Until his arrest, Milton was assigned to work at a juvenile detention camp.

The deputy probation officer is the latest arrest for the probation department's Professional Standards Bureau, which is cracking down on insurance fraud and other employee misconduct, according to the department.

Milton was booked at the Lost Hills sheriff's station in Agoura Hills and released on $30,000 bail.
