Feb. 03--As national signing day news overtook Twitter Wednesday, Bears tackle Kyle Long provided a different perspective on the typically celebratory day, commenting on the way recruits are often treated "like celebrities" and the negative effects such treatment can have.
He also noted how much pressure is placed on athletes, not only by themselves, but from their parents and coaches.
Long, who just finished his third season with the Bears, accepted a baseball scholarship from Florida State before transferring to play football at Saddleback Community College. He then committed and transferred to the University of Oregon, where he played 11 games.
