BRIEF: Kristine Nielsen will lead Goodman's 'The Matchmaker'

Jan. 06--Goodman Theatre has announced casting of Thornton Wilder's "The Matchmaker," the farce that inspired the musical "Hello, Dolly!"

Kristine Nielsen, a 2013 Tony nominee for playing Sonia in Christopher Durang's "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" on Broadway, will lead the cast as Dolly Gallagher Levi. She is joined by Allen Gilmore as Horace Vandergelder.

The cast also includes Theo Allyn as Ermengarde, Behzad Dabu as Barnaby Tucker, Larry DiStasi as Cabman/Rudolph, Marilyn Dodds Frank as Flora Van Huysen, Sydney Germaine as Minnie Fay, Marc Grapey as Malachi Stack, Anita Hollander as Cook/Gertrude, Ronobir Lahiri as Ambrose Kemper, Elizabeth Ledo as Mrs. Malloy, Postell Pringle as Cornelius and Ron Rains as Joe Scanlon.

"The Matchmaker," to be directed by Henry Wishcamper, follows a love liaison who plans to match herself with a wealthy widower in need of her services.

The production runs March 5 to April 10 at Goodman Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn St.
