March 06--Before another sellout crowd of 15,443 at Sloan Park, Tucker Barnhart hit a two-run homer off Paul Jokisch in the third, and pinch-hitter Philip Ervin hit a solo shot off Drew Rucinski in the sixth as the Reds beat the Cubs 4-2 win.
At the plate
Kris Bryant batted leadoff to get more at-bats, but was 0-for-2 with a strikeout. Miguel Montero had three of the Cubs' five hits.
On the mound
Trevor Cahill struck out three during two scoreless innings. Cahill froze Joey Votto on a 93 mph fastball to end the first.
In the field
Shortstop Gleyber Torres, rated Baseball America's top prospect in the Cubs' organization, displayed his defensive prowess when he ranged well past second base to retire Scott Schebler in the second.
