March 17--MESA, Ariz. -- Top propsect Kris Bryant reported Tuesday that his right shoulder feels better and that he anticipates returning to the Chicago Cubs' lineup soon.
"It felt good," Bryant said after throwing. "We're still going to take it slow. It felt better than the past couple days.
"It's day to day. It's kind of bad timing here in spring training, but I think I''ll be out there very soon. We've made some good progress with it. I'm not worried about it.''
Bryant hasn't played third base since last Thursday. He said he has coped with fatigue in the past.
"Usually when I start throwing again, I get a little bit of soreness," Bryant said. "In the past, I've thrown through it and it went away. I think this is the same situation. I noticed when it started to get sore, I started to cut the ball instead of having a normal tail to it.
"Changing arm angles isn't good for you, so I'm focused on repeating the motion just like a pitcher would. I've been doing well with that the past couple days."
Bryant said he could play through the discomfort if this was the regular season, adding no pain-killing injection is necessary.
"No shot," Bryant said. "I hate shots. Needles aren't for me.''
