BRIEF: Kris Bryant scratched from start, comes off bench to clout 2 homers

March 15--LAS VEGAS -- Cubs top prospect Kris Bryant took center stage Saturday in a town known for top acts.

After being scratched from the starting lineup because of right shoulder fatigue that he insisted was minor, Bryant came off the bench to hit two home runs in a 3-1 victory over the Athletics.

"It was really cool, stepping into the box and hearing everyone cheer for me," said Bryant, a Las Vegas native. "I didn't really know Vegas had that type of baseball connection."

Bryant increased his spring home run total to six, including four in his last three games.

"I came to the park prepared to play third base," Bryant said. "We thought (not starting) was precautionary to take this day. I'll be out there (Sunday) ready to go."
