March 18--Kris Bryant masqueraded as a European transfer to the Mesa Community College baseball team Thursday, shocking the players when he started taking batting practice.
Thunderbirds coach Anthony Cirelli was in on the prank, telling his team they were getting a late arrival from Europe named Roy Nabryt (short for Rookie of the Year, then Bryant scrambled).
"He's a big donkey, he's got crazy power," Cirelli told the team. "He can help us. ... If he gets us to Oklahoma for the World Series and we win another ring, no one's going to be complaining."
Mesa CC has won 18 national championships and produced MLB players including Pat Darcy, Ken Phelps and Jim Otten.
This isn't the first time Bryant has gone unrecognized. Last September, Bryant went undercover as a Lyft driver.
