March 22--"Everything's clicking right now," Kevin Harvick said Saturday in the understatement of the week.
The red-hot driver rolled to a dominating win in NASCAR's second-level Xfinity Series race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.
Harvick mainly drives in NASCAR's premier Sprint Cup Series, and he's won the last two races at that level, too.
In Saturday's accident-free race, Harvick led 100 of the 150 laps in his No. 88 Chevrolet and won by 3.3 seconds over second-place Brendan Gaughan.
Pole-sitter Erik Jones finished third at the two-mile Fontana oval, and Chase Elliott, the reigning Xfinity Series champion, finished fourth.
"I'm just the lucky guy to be piloting really fast cars," said Harvick, who also won the Xfinity Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Feb. 28.
The cars for Harvick and Elliott were prepared by JR Motorsports, the team co-owned by Cup star Dale Earnhardt Jr. "Kevin's an amazing driver," Earnhardt said. "He's very focused."
Harvick had widened his lead to six seconds Saturday when a caution period bunched the field with 29 laps left. But Harvick again quickly pulled ahead on the restart and was not challenged again.
For the 39-year-old Gaughan, of Las Vegas, it was the third consecutive top-10 finish.
Gaughan said he wished he'd had one more restart to try to 7 pass Harvick, but "[Harvick's] Chevrolet was just on a mission today."
