May 06--Pop star Kesha will headline Diplo's Mad Decent Block Party, set for Aug. 21 at Northerly Island, organizers announced Friday.
The announcement comes as the "Tik Tok" singer continues her legal battle against producer Dr. Luke, who she claimed sexually and emotionally abused her. Kesha canceled a Loyola University concert in February amid the court fight.
Tickets for the Mad Decent Block Party, which cost $45, went on sale Friday. The festival is scheduled to be held at FirstMerit Bank Pavilion, a change from last year's spot at the Hawthorne Race Course in Cicero.
Diplo, a DJ/producer, tweeted in September that the city wouldn't let him hold the block party in Chicago. Gatecrashers broke through barricades at the 2012 edition in the Near West Side community. A rep for Live Nation, which helps book the festival, declined to comment on the new city location.
The Mad Decent Block Party is a traveling festival. The party is slated to kick off in Florida in July and wrap up in Los Angeles in October. Flosstradamus, AlunaGeorge, D.R.A.M., RL Grime, Dillon Francis, Baauer, Boi-1da, Giraffage, Rich the Kid and Anna Lunoe are on the bill.
