BRIEF: Kerry Wood cuts asking price on mansion by $345,000

Aug. 19--Retired Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood and his wife, Sarah, earlier this month cut the asking price on their five-bedroom Beaux Arts-style Lincoln Park mansion by $345,000 to $3.25 million.

Wood, 38, who retired from baseball in 2012 after a 14-year career, first placed the mansion on the market in February. He bought the house through a land trust in 2008 for $3.3245 million.

The mansion was built in 2005 by luxury homebuilder BGD and has four full baths, two half baths, three fireplaces, a butler's pantry, a family room on the lower level, a great room with French doors that opens to a raised back patio, and a roof deck atop the detached garage.

"It's a beautiful house, and it's priced to sell," listing agent Rachel Krueger told Elite Street.

It's not known where the couple have moved or plan to move.

Curbed Chicago first reported the price reduction.
