BRIEF: Kennedy reopens after hit-and-run collision, police car and motorcycle crash

Sept. 26--The Kennedy Expressway was closed for about half an hour early Saturday morning after two crashes in quick succession, Illinois State Police said.

At about 2:15 a.m., there was a hit-and-run crash on the northbound Kennedy near North Avenue, said Illinois State Police Trooper Bridget Gilgenberg.

A Chicago police car responded to assist with the crash, and shortly afterward was hit from behind by a motorcycle.

No officers were injured, and the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with very minor injuries, Gilgenberg said.

As of 2:50 a.m., all lanes were open again.
