Aug. 17--Veteran news director Bill Dallman has been tapped as vice president and news director of KCBS-TV Channel 2 and KCAL-TV Channel 9.
Dallman will join the CBS-owned duopoly in Los Angeles in early September and will oversee a news department that produces 60-plus hours of local newscasts per week. He replaces Scott Diener, who left the post in June.
The new role has Dallman returning to local television. He spent the past two years as vice president of news at L.A.-based Fox Sports 1.
Steve Mauldin, president and general manager of KCBS-KCAL, lauded Dallman's reputation as a leader of large newsrooms.
"We are thrilled to welcome him back to the local news world, where he has enjoyed great success in a number of very competitive markets," Mauldin said, "and look forward to having him play a leading role in the continuing success of our stations."
Before relocating to Southern California two years ago, Dallman served as vice president of news at Fox-owned station KMSP-TV in Minneapolis-St. Paul, as well as Fox-owned KDVR-TV in Denver.
