BRIEF: Juveniles accused of robbing man of phone, pants with fake gun in Beach Park

Dec. 23--Two male juveniles are in custody in Lake County for allegedly robbing a 19-year-old man of his cellphone and pants with what turned out to be a fake gun Tuesday in Beach Park, authorities said.

According to a news release from the Lake County sheriff's office, the victim had arranged a meeting with one of the juveniles in the 11200 block of West Edgewood Road. When the victim arrived, the acquaintance and another juvenile robbed him at gunpoint of his pants and cellphone and then fled.

Sheriff's deputies and detectives were able to determine the identity of both alleged offenders and arrested them without incident. The weapon used in the robbery was recovered, and it was determined to be a replica, not an actual functioning firearm, according to the release.

Sheriff's detectives submitted a juvenile delinquent referral/petition for both juveniles on the charge of aggravated robbery, a felony. Both juveniles are being held at the Lake County Hulse Juvenile Detention Center pending a juvenile detention hearing, according to the release.
