May 30--A juvenile driver has surrendered to authorities after a hit-and-run collision in Granada Hills that injured two female pedestrians, authorities announced Sunday.
The driver, whose identity was not released because he is a minor, hit two women who were crossing Chatsworth Street between Balboa Boulevard and Genesta Avenue about 10 p.m. Friday night, authorities said. After the collision, witnesses said, the driver yelled at the victims and made an obscene gesture with one hand before fleeing the scene.
The collision was believed to have occurred at a high enough speed to cause front-end damage to the vehicle, authorities said.
One victim, a woman in her 50s, suffered serious injuries and is still hospitalized. The other victim, a teenage girl, is in good condition.
The driver, accompanied by his family, was arrested on felony hit-and-run and sent to Sylmar Juvenile Hall with no possibility for bail.
