BRIEF: Julio Urias is likely to rejoin Dodgers if Alex Wood's arm problem lingers

May 31--REPORTING FROM CHICAGO -- Julio Urias, the Dodgers teenage phenom, is expected to rejoin the team this week after starter Alex Wood reported lingering discomfort in his throwing arm, according to a person familiar with the situation. The team is expected to announce the maneuver after Tuesday's game against the Cubs.

The Dodgers have not announced if Urias will start in Wood's place on Saturday against the Braves, or if he will pitch on Thursday at Wrigley Field. Kenta Maeda, the starter scheduled for Thursday, is dealing with swelling in his pitching hand after getting hit by a line drive over the weekend.

Urias, 19, gave up three runs in 2 2/3 innings in his major league debut against the Mets on Friday at Citi Field. The Dodgers optioned him to triple-A Oklahoma City a day later. Urias was slated to pitch for the OKC Dodgers on Thursday.

Wood threw five high-stress innings on Monday against the Cubs. He had initially been pushed back three days because of soreness in his triceps. Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday afternoon that Wood relayed a recurrence of his symptoms.
