BRIEF: Josh Greenberg of Grooveshark found dead in home

July 21--Josh Greenberg, the 28-year-old co-founder of the online music-streaming service Grooveshark, was found dead in his Gainesville, Fla., home Sunday evening, according the Gainesville Police Department.

According to Gainesville police, there was no evidence of foul play or suicide.

The Gainesville Sun reported that Greenberg's mother told police that he had never been sick, and his girlfriend, Abby Mayer, said she had never known him to be sick and he was not prescribed any medication.

Grooveshark co-founders Greenberg and Sam Tarantino were forced to shut down the service this spring after years of legal battles with the music industry over streaming music without securing licenses from the rights holders.

As part of a settlement with the major music companies -- Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group -- the Gainesville company agreed to cease operations, wipe its computer services of the record companies' music and hand over ownership of its website and mobile apps.
