BRIEF: Jorge Soler, Jake Arrieta carve pieces of Cubs' history

April 14--The Chicago Cubs hope Jorge Soler and Jake Arrieta reinforce their historical marks Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds.

Soler, who hit two home runs in a 7-6 comeback win over the Reds on Monday, has 26 RBIs in his first 30 major league games. That's the most by a Cubs player during that span since Bob Speake in 1955.

J.D. Martinez of the Houston Astros was the last National League player to drive in at least 26 runs in his first 30 games, compiling 29 RBIs in 30 games.

Arrieta, who will face the Reds, hasn't allowed an earned run in his past three starts (23 innings) dating back to September of 2014. Only four Cubs pitchers haven't allowed an earned run in four consecutive starts since 1914 -- Hippo Vaughn (four consecutive starts in 1918), Guy Bush (four, 1926), Bill Lee (four, 1938) and Ryan Dempster (five, 2012).

Also, top prospect Kris Bryant will have the night off as Triple-A Iowa's game at New Orleans was rained out and will be made up Thursday as part of a twilight doubleheader.
