BRIEF: Jordin Sparks lighting Macy's Great Tree

Oct. 09--Macy's is once again is going the "American Idol" route for its Great Tree lighting ceremony this year.

Jordin Sparks is scheduled to do the honors Nov. 7 at the 108th annual celebration at Macy's on State Street. The "No Air" and "Tattoo" pop star won season six of the Fox singing competition in 2007 and went on to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl the following year.

"Idol" host Ryan Seacrest and season nine winner Lee DeWyze took part in the tree lighting last year, with season ten runner-up Lauren Alaina joining "America's Got Talent" host Nick Cannon at the ceremony the year before that. "Idol" season five runner-up Katharine McPhee took part in 2010.

The 45-foot-tall Great Tree will be located in Macy's 7th floor Walnut Room, as usual.
