BRIEF: Jordan Spieth blazes to 36-hole Masters record

April 10--Something about the Masters seems to agree with Jordan Spieth.

The 21-year-old blazed through the second round at Augusta National on Friday, setting a tournament record at 14-under for 36 holes.

"I've been kind of on my game, feeling pretty good about how I've been striking the ball," Spieth told ESPN. "It's good just to be at the tournament, let alone out front."

A year ago, he was a Masters rookie, finishing tied for second in his first try for the fabled green jacket.

This time around, Spieth has shot rounds of 64 and 66 to take a four-stroke lead over Charley Hoffman, whose 10-under might otherwise have been headline news.

Dustin Johnson, Ernie Els and Paul Casey stood tied for third at 5-under as play continued. Tiger Woods was climbing up the leaderboard, looking strong in his comeback at 2-under through 36 holes.

Raymond Floyd held the Masters' previous 36-hole record at 13-under. Spieth's score also tied the record for the best start in any major championship.
