BRIEF: Joliet man cited for DUI in Bolingbrook crash that hurt 2 state police troopers

May 20--A 24-year-old Joliet man has been cited for driving under the influence in connection with a crash early Friday along Interstate 55 in Bolingbrook that left two Illinois State Police troopers injured, authorities said.

Daniel Gaeta, of the 2800 block of Stonewall Lane, is being held in the Will County Adult Detention Facility pending a bond hearing Saturday, according to Chuck Pelkie, spokesman for the Will County state's attorney's office.

According to state police, the two troopers dealing with a traffic stop about 12:15 a.m. on the shoulder of I-55 north of Weber Road when a vehicle driven by Gaeta allegedly rear-ended one squad car, which then struck a second squad car.

The two troopers were taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, one in serious condition, the other in good condition, state police said. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, and one of the troopers was released overnight.
