BRIEF: Friday's recap: Indians 7, White Sox 1

April 09--John Danks gave up seven runs in five innings, and the White Sox lost 7-1 to the Indians on Friday in their home opener at U.S. Cellular Field. Five of the runs were earned against Danks, who allowed eight hits with one walk and six strikeouts in his season debut.

At the plate: Todd Frazier's home run to left field was the only Sox hit off Indians right-hander Danny Salazar in the first four innings. Frazier had two of three Sox hits Friday.

On the mound: Danks retired 10 straight starting at the end of the second before the Indians had four straight hits and two runs against him in the fifth.

In the field: When Carlos Santana's chopper bounced in front of the plate with the bases loaded in the first inning, Sox catcher Alex Avila couldn't field it and get back to the plate for the force out. He then overthrew first base for an error. Two Indians runs scored.

On the bases: After back-to-back walks to Melky Cabrera and Avisail Garcia in the second inning, Garcia was picked off first base.

Up next: Vs. Indians, 1:10 p.m. Saturday. RH Cody Anderson vs. LH Chris Sale.
