March 08--Jewel-Osco reached an agreement with hundreds of warehouse and transportation workers, putting into place two new contracts concerning wages and benefits effective until March 6, 2021.
Members of Teamsters Local 710 voted Sunday to approve the new agreements, which collectively cover about 850 employees at the Melrose Park distribution center. The previous contracts were last negotiated in August 2012.
"Jewel-Osco is pleased with the outcome and recognizes our hard-working (distribution center) employees through competitive wages and benefits," Jewel-Osco spokeswoman Mary Frances Trucco said in a statement Tuesday.
About 63 percent of the transportation workers, which include drivers and dispatchers, voted in favor of their new contract, according to numbers provided by the union. Almost 80 percent of the warehouse workers voted in support of their agreement.
