Jan. 15--More key casting was announced for Lyric Opera's spring production of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's "Carousel" on Thursday.
Jenn Gambatese will play the role of Carrie Pipperidge, the company said.
The actress was last seen in Chicago playing Maria in Lyric Opera's 2014 production of "The Sound of Music" and many theatergoers will recall her turn as Galinda in the 2013 tour of "Wicked."
Gambatese joins actors Steven Pasquale ("Bridges of Madison County" on Broadway) and Laura Osnes ("Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella" on Broadway) in Rob Ashford's ("Barber of Seville" at Lyric, "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" on Broadway) production. Opera singer Denyce Graves will play Nettie Fowler.
"Carousel" begins performances at Lyric Opera on April 10 and continues through May 3. Tickets are now on sale.
