May 03--The Aurora Public Arts Commission, in collaboration with artist Lewis Achenbach, will open its third annual Jazz Occurrence Exhibition in Aurora Friday.
The exhibit, called "Rooms of the Mind," will open with a musical premiere from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Aurora Public Arts Commission, 20 E. Downer Place.
"Rooms of the Mind" features the works of many visual artists: Lewis Achenbach, Renee Baker, Lauren Deutsch, Martel Chapman, Elliott Cowen, Lisa Flahive, Ton van Meesche, Burrell Sunrise, Wes Douglas, Ronan Dexter, and Grace Madeline.
The exhibit's opening night includes a musical premiere of the original score, "Suite LeN8 for Chamber Ensemble and Voices," composed and directed by Renee Baker and performed by the Chicago Modern Orchestra Project.
The reception includes light hors d'oeuvres. Admission is free.
"Rooms of the Mind" runs through July 23, and is open for viewing during regular gallery hours, noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at the Aurora Public Arts Commission.
