BRIEF: 'Jamaica Farewell' will return to Chicago

June 26--The one-woman play "Jamaica Farewell" will come to the Royal George Theatre this summer, courtesy of producer Hersey Felder.

A spokeswoman for the production said on Friday that performances will begin in early September.

The show, written and performed by Debra Ehrhardt, previously played Chicago's Chopin Theatre in 2012. It's the true story of Ehrhardt's escape from Jamaica to the United States during the 1970s.

In the review by Tribune critic Chris Jones, he said "Jamaica Farewell" is "a different kind of international show, but one just as potent and revealing of global forces as a window into some distant land."

"Jamaica Farewell" begins performances at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted St., on Sept. 8 and will continue through Oct. 11.
