BRIEF: Jake Bickelhaupt of 42 Grams named Food Wine Best Chef

March 31--Another day, another big recognition for 42 Grams and chef Jake Bickelhaupt.

The high-end BYO in Uptown scored two Michelin stars in its first year in business (2014), and now chef and partner Jake Bickelhaupt has been named to the 2015 Food Wine Best New Chefs list.

Also on the list, in neighboring Indiana, is Jonathan Brooks, recognized for his work at Milktooth restaurant in Indianapolis.

Over the years, Food Wine's Best New Chef list has been a pretty good predictor of future success. Among the previous Chicago winners are Grant Achatz, Dave Beran, Graham Elliot, Stephanie Izard, Paul Kahan, Bruce Sherman, Giuseppe Tentori and Paul Virant. Around the country, such star chefs as Danny Bowien, David Chang, Daniel Humm, Corey Lee, Paul Liebrandt, Paul Qui and Alex Stupak have been Best New Chef recipients.
