BRIEF: Jake Arrieta, Matt Carpenter headline TCU banquet

Jan. 15--Although Mike Matheny and Adam Wainwright seemed miffed over Jason Heyward's departure from the St. Louis Cardinals to the rival Chicago Cubs, peace remains strong between Cubs ace Jake Arrieta and Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter.

Arrieta, who won 22 games en route to the 2015 National League Cy Young Award, and Carpenter will headline Texas Christian's annual First Pitch banquet Feb. 12 in Fort Worth. Arrieta pitched at TCU in 2006-07, winning 14 games in 2006.

Arrieta said Thursday he was extremely proud to be invited to the annual event, in which he will participate in a question-and-answer session with attendees.

Carpenter, a standout third baseman with the Cardinals, was drafted from TCU in 2009 and ranks second in school history with 241 games played.
