Nov. 03--Today is supposedly National Sandwich Day, another one of those made-up nonsense holidays conceived by the restaurant industry (Thursday, by the way, is National Nacho Day). But you know what? I'll play along.
Please note: This is not an authoratative list of the best sandwiches in Chicago. They are merely ones I've sampled and have enjoyed. What's most revealing about this list is I have a worrisome problem with pork.
I like these sandwiches in Chicago:
--Pork belly sandwich at Blackbird
--Woodland mushroom torta at Xoco
--Pork belly banh mi (The No. 5) at Nhu Lan Bakery
--Chivito at Cafecito
--Breaded pork tenderloin at The Silo
--"The Pine" fried chicken sandwich at Reno
--Fried chicken sandwich at Big Jones
--Thick-cut BLT at Jack's Restaurant
--The Beefy Cheezy at Cookies Carnitas
--The Shrimp at Little Goat Bakery
