BRIEF: It costs more to ring in 2016 at Olive Garden than at a Michelin-starred restaurant

Dec. 29--The witty headline from NJ.com making its rounds on social media Monday -- "Breadsticks not included in Olive Garden's $400 New Year's Eve NYC buffet," in case you missed it -- has brought to our attention that it costs $400 to ring in 2016 at the Olive Garden in Times Square. Yes, per person. [UPDATE: There will be breadsticks.]

For comparison:

Six courses with wine pairings at Acadia, which just got two stars in Michelin's Chicago guide, is $275 a head on New Year's Eve.

Seven courses plus Champagne at Tru, a four-star restaurant, is also $275 a head on the holiday.

New Year's Eve at The Aviary, widely regarded as one of the top cocktail bars in the country, features five courses of cocktails and food, plus Champagne, for $225 per person.

Or, you know, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.'s Times Square party is $800. Life is all about hard decisions.
