BRIEF: Infant boy died from abuse injuries: autopsy

June 06--The death of a 2-month-old boy in the Ashburn neighborhood Saturday has been ruled a homicide from abuse, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Bryson Holman died of multiple abuse injuries after he was found at his home in the 3200 block of West 83rd Place, the medical examiner's office determined following an autopsy Sunday.

Police were called to the home about noon Saturday following the report of an unresponsive 2-month-old, according to Officer Kevin Quaid, a police spokesman. The boy was taken to Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

The boy's injuries were not believed to be accidental, police said.

Area South detectives were investigating but did not immediately have a person of interest in custody.

A spokeswoman for the state Department of Children and Family Services was not immediately available for comment.
