April 10--Illinois assistant coach Ryan Cubit, the son of offensive coordinator Bill Cubit, was promoted to the role of quarterbacks coach.
Last season, Ryan Cubit served a one-game suspension following an October DUI arrest while working as the director of player development. He was served with a two-year probation.
"I've watched how he interacts with our student-athletes, along with the prospective recruits who visited our campus, and he is extremely prepared for this role," coach Tim Beckman said in a statement. "He'll be able to fit in immediately."
Cubit will also serve as the team's recruiting coordinator.
Assistant coach Alex Golesh will take over as special teams coordinator, while also coaching tight ends and specialists. Bill Cubit will remain the offensive coordinator while overseeing running backs.
Cubit joined the Illini staff before the 2013 season.
He previously worked as a co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Western Michigan, his alma mater.
