BRIEF: Illinois leads nation in residents packing up, heading out

Dec. 30--It's a clear No.1 ranking for Illinois, but not one that likely will be touted by corporate recruiters or politicians.

Of all 50 states, Illinois was tops for outbound versus inbound moves in 2014, according to Allied Van Lines' annual report of where the company moved people.

The study is hardly definitive because it's based on just one company's volume.

Still, the company said it moved 4,148 customers out of Illinois this year and moved 2,776 customers into the state. In 2013, Illinois ranked second for outbound migration.

Texas' net inbound moves ranked highest for the 10th consecutive year.
