Jan. 24--Illinois landed two recruits to the Class of 2016 on Sunday, picking up three-star defensive end Tymir Oliver out of Philadelphia and two-star linebacker Christion Abercrombie from Atlanta.
Oliver, a three-star recruit out of Philadelphia, committed to Illinois on Sunday after considering offers from Boston College, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, Temple and Virginia.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pounder had formerly committed to Rutgers.
Abercrombie also had offers from 16 programs and previously visited Georgia State.
Running back Kentrail Moran, from O'Fallon, was the Illini's top committed recruit but he decommitted on Friday.
Moran was rated as the 18th best running back in the nation. He is predicted by recruiting services to be picking Eastern Michigan.
Illinois football received other commitments this month from three-star tight end Zarrian Holcombe of Texas, three-star linebacker Jake Hansen of Florida, two-star safety Evan Jones of Georgia, and guard Doug Kramer of Hinsdale Central.
