BRIEF: Illini lose football recruit to Missouri

Dec. 15--East St. Louis offensive lineman Trevour Simms switched his oral commitment from Illinois to Missouri on Monday.

Simms had been committed to Illinois since June, but according to reports, changed his mind after visiting the Tigers over the weekend.

Simms, a 6-foot-3, 317-pound guard, is a three-star recruit who originally chose the Illini over offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Louisville and Purdue.

Illinois coach Bill Cubit was signed to a two-year contract last month, and many speculated the lack of a long-term deal could make recruiting difficult.
