BRIEF: Howie Kendrick and Yasmani Grandal are slated to rejoin Dodgers for home opener

April 07--REPORTING FROM SAN FRANCISCO -- Howie Kendrick and Yasmani Grandal, a Dodgers duo on the disabled list, left Camelback Ranch in Arizona for minor-league rehabilitation assignments on Thursday. Manager Dave Roberts continued to say they will rejoin the main roster for Tuesday's home opener.

Kendrick (calf tightness) will play for class-A Rancho Cucamonga. Roberts indicated that Kendrick would play a game at third base and two at second base.

Grandal (forearm strain) will join the team's triple-A affiliate in Nashville. A.J. Ellis is still scheduled to start on Tuesday, Roberts said.

Guerrero still sidelined

Alex Guerrero (knee soreness) is still not cleared to take the field, Roberts said. There is little reason to rush Guerrero back from the disabled list. He does not have a role on the big-league roster, but his contract allows him to refuse any minor-league assignment.

"Alex is feeling better," Roberts said. "He had one MRI that showed some things with his knee. He's still not doing baseball activities. We're trying to make sure that it doesn't get [worse]. So he's just kind of laying low."
