BRIEF: How will playoff committee view Big Ten?

Oct. 29--How will the College Football Playoff selection committee view the Big Ten?

We'll find out at 6:30 p.m., when ESPN broadcasts the release of the first-ever top 25, leading to the final determination on Dec. 7.

Michigan State, Ohio State and Nebraska all have a chance to make the four-team playoff, but Huskers coach Bo Pelini seemed to speak for all of the coaches in downplaying the first batch of rankings.

"I'm sure I'll hear about it, but I have other things on my mind," he said. "It's not something that affects me right now. There are certain things in your control, and that is not one of them. You just try to win as many football games as you possibly can."

Asked if he'd talk to his team about the rankings, Pelini replied: "No, other than to ignore them."
