BRIEF: Houlihan's closes Chicago restaurant

Dec. 04--Houlihan's has closed its Illinois Center location on Upper Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago, but the reason wasn't immediately clear.

"Parting is such sweet sorrow," the restaurant posted on its Facebook page Monday. "We have closed our doors for good and want to thank each and every one of you for all the great memories!" It referred patrons to other locations in Algonquin, Geneva, Naperville, Orland Park, Park Ridge and Wheaton.

The company could not be reached for comment.

Houlihan's closed its Oak Brook restaurant in February. Last month, parent company HRI, based in Leawood, Kan., agreed to be acquired by a New York investment firm for an undisclosed sum. The deal is expected to close this month.

Representatives of Illinois Center didn't immediately respond to questions about the closing.
