Jan. 04--In Chicago, it seems that three things are inescapable: death, taxes and Hot Doug's.
Encased-meats impressario Doug Sohn will re-create some of that Hot Doug's magic at a one-day pop-up Jan. 18 at Publican Quality Meats (825 W. Fulton Market). Sohn will serve from six to eight hot-dog creations, as well as his duck-fat fries, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., reported first by Time Out Chicago.
Marz Community Brewing will serve various beers; Lumpen Radio (105.5 FM) will be playing music and live-streaming throughout the event.
For non-sausage fans, PQM will serve a limited food menu during the pop-up.
Sohn closed his iconic hot-dog restaurant in October 2014, but since then has enjoyed a farewell tour to rival Cher's. He had a one-day pop-up appearance at Paulina Meat Market in May, a two-day appearance at Dog Dayz of Summer in June, and opened a stand selling a rotating menu of sausage sandwiches in the Wrigley Field bleachers since Independence Day weekend. A super-spicy sausage pizza of Sohn's design is part of the menu at Piece.
Best. Exit strategy. Ever.
