BRIEF: Hikers discover human skull in Griffith Park

March 20--Two hikers discovered a human skull in a remote area of Griffith Park on Saturday afternoon, police said.

About 12:30 p.m., a pair of hikers came across the skull about 400 feet from the intersection of the Brush Canyon and Mulholland trails, said LAPD Lt. Ryan Schatz.

The skull does not appear to be part of a larger crime scene and is probably years old.

Police and coroner's investigators will return Sunday morning to process the scene, Schatz said.

Another human skull was found in Griffith Park in 2010.

Then in 2012, bodies parts were found. Last year, a 40-year-old man was convicted slaying of his live-in boyfriend in that case.
