Nov. 18--The strong winds that blew though Southern California on Monday are expected to weaken overnight and into Tuesday, but red flag fire warnings will remain in effect for mountainous areas.
High winds combined with dry vegetation and low humidity prompted authorities to issue red flag warnings signifying high fire danger throughout much of Los Angeles and Ventura counties on Monday.
Those warnings will remain in effect for Santa Clarita, the San Fernando Valley and the Santa Monica and San Gabriel mountains through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Oxnard.
The red flag warning is set to expire at 4 p.m. Tuesday, said Scott Sukup, a meteorologist with the weather service.
A hard-freeze warning is again in place in the Antelope Valley, where temperatures fell to 30 degrees Sunday night. Temperatures there are expected to drop to 28 degrees overnight.
