Dec. 05--A high-end men's clothing store in the Loop was burglarized for the second time in less than two months early Thursday morning, police said.
A security guard for the building at 208 S. LaSalle St. heard someone beating on the windows at 2:40 a.m., went to investigate and spotted three people in dark clothing inside the Paul Stuart store, according to a police report.
When they saw the guard, they ran off and fled in a dark-colored minivan, according to police. A clothing rack had been knocked over.
The police report said the trio "entered and removed approximately 27 leather coats with an estimated total retail value of $24,494."
"They loaded merchandise into dark colored van driven by fourth offender and fled S/B on LaSalle," the report said.
The burglars had used a hammer to break through a revolving glass door, according to Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
The store was also burglarized on Oct. 15. Burglars also shattered the revolving glass door, but with a rock, around 6:30 a.m., police said.
More than $10,000 worth of merchandise was taken then, police said.
No one was in custody in either burglary.
