BRIEF: Hello, again! 'Book of Mormon' is coming back in June 2016

Aug. 18--"The Book of Mormon" is coming back in the summer of 2016 for another seven weeks -- its third Chicago engagement in four years -- Broadway in Chicago was to announce Monday night at its annual concert in Millennium Park.

Most Chicago performances to date of the hit satirical musical have sold out. The return engagement is further evidence of an savvy marketing strategy for the touring production designed to avoid having any surplus inventory. Instead of playing an open-ended run in Chicago, the show plays here for several weeks, leaves town while houses remain sold out, and then announces a quick return.

The Tony-winning musical by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone first opened in Chicago over the 2013 holiday season and was back February through May this year. The 2016 run will be once again at the Bank of America Theatre, 18 W. Monroe St., from June 28 to Aug. 14, 2016. Individual tickets are not yet on sale.
